Opening Policy with Parent Letter

Aloha Families:

Attached you will find our transition plan to our school Hybrid model.  This is the same model that was previously posted but the dates have been revised based on our community COVID cases.  Our next phase in our student transition back to campus will be the select group of students.  Families will be notified by phone if your child is included in the next phase.  This next phase is tentatively to begin on January 25th.  Students are required to bring their computer to campus and wear their school uniform and ID, on their designated days.  Families also reserve the option to continue in Distance Learning only for the remainder of the year.  We will post the next phase of our transition to campus after the successful implementation of this next step.

In addition, for the 2020-21 school year, we are sharing pertinent information regarding virtual learning. We will be following our bell schedule, physically or virtually, and ask that students follow the instructions below:

To support you and your child through virtual learning, the following information is available on the Wai`anae Intermediate School’s website. Click on the “Academics” tab, select “Virtual Only Learning”. On the left side of the page, you will see:

    • How to log into Google Classroom and Google Meet
    • Schoolwide Expectations and Online Etiquette
    • How to take the STAR diagnostic test
    • How to take an AR test

Please review all the above online documents with your child. Should you have any questions or need support, you may contact our Tech Team at 305-2763 to schedule an appointment. If you child needs a computer or tech support, please contact our Tech Team.

As a reminder all students are expected to log into their teacher’s Google Classroom for every period whether attending in person or virtually. Please note that on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 1:25-2:25 pm, teachers are available for tutorials via Google Meet.  We also have after-school tutorials.  Please contact your child's school counselor for more information.

We appreciate working in partnership with you and your child during this unpredictable school year. Mahalo for your ongoing support!

Aloha,

Mr. John Wataoka

Principal, Wai'anae Intermediate School
